More about Sarah...
Born in Topeka, Kansas I grew up mostly in the surrounding areas and since around the age of 9 I've been doing massage. I remember going around the dining room table, when family came to visit, to rub everyone's shoulders and watch them melt under my hands. It always made me feel so good to see their reactions and hear their praises.
One day my mother came home from work and complained of her right leg hurting. She said it felt like it had fallen asleep. It had the "bee stinging" sensation but it had been going on all day. I looked at her and simply said, "Let me work on you." And God Bless her, she said "Okay", then sat down on the lounge chair kicked her legs out on the leg rest and I got to work.
Within about a minute of massaging her foot and leg I started to sweat from the energy exchange (and believe it or not I knew that that's what it was). I remember thinking to myself, "How will I know I'm done?" A few minutes into the massage I had this distinct feeling that there was nothing more to do. Looking up at mom, I said, "I think I'm done now."
Getting up, she starts to walk around with that curious look on her face like she's trying on new shoes and not quite sure their going to work out. While I'm sitting there and watching intently, she turns to me and says, "It's gone!" (and it never came back.) Sitting back down she asked to see my hands, the left one particularly (the less dominant), and studied it for a moment. "There are small lines on the hand", she claimed, "that determine whether you're a healer or not. See? You have them." I looked as she showed me and saw that I had many... and on both hands. This is when I learned I had the gift of healing. I was 11 yrs. old.
In Junior High School my parents found a Chiropractor in Topeka, Kansas who did a technique called B.E.S.T. They were so blown away by it, they both left their careers in 1991 to go to Chiropractic School so they could do it for a living. In order for them to get treated more often, they taught me to do it. I have now been doing the B.E.S.T. technique since 1995 (my Senior year of High School).
The information my parents were learning about fascinated me. Joining them in classes occasionally and even taking a trip or two to the Anatomy Lab to see the cadavers was just enough to make me giddy! Although, that could've been from all the formaldehyde!
Knowing all of this information, however, did not in any way move me in the direction of massage any faster. I tried just about everything else before finally landing in the world of Health and Wellness.
As a typical 20-something adult, searching for an identity and trying to grow up, my main bread and butter was banquet serving or waiting tables. More than 12 years of experience in the food and beverage industry will keep you well fed and strong... with just a little hint of misery to spice it up. But you hear 100 different times from 100 different people saying, "You should do massage for a living", after rubbing their shoulders. I guess it was the 100th monkey that did it. I finally got it. That one moment of clarity changed my life forever.
Since then I have been mentored by phenomenal world class teachers, family and friends in the trade, as well as constantly educating myself in new techniques, supplements, exercise and diet, self care, etc. The way I see it is, the more I know, the better I am able to do my job which is to Assist, Support and Educate everyone to the best of my ability. I am passionate about what I do and believe in the body's ability to heal itself. I have seen it happen on my table, as well as the healing I have created in my own body. Miracles have happened and continue to within myself AND my clients! The miracles have only gotten more frequent and more powerful as I deepen my own journey into my faith and relationship with God.
I will always be adding more information on this site, as well. So be sure to check in!
LIVE WELL!!
Warmth,
Sarah Taylor, LMT
